PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit our Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

  • “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org.
  • “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  • “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

Additionally, when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information, email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information.”

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. We also let you know why we’re collecting it and how it will be used.

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:
Communicate with you;
Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and
When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above. For example, we use WooCommerce to power our online store–you can read more about how WooCommerce uses your Personal Information here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/marketplace-privacy/. We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site–you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful requests for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Our Site may contain links to external sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. Vehicle purchase requests and identity verification

When you start an online vehicle purchase request, we collect your legal name, email address, primary phone number, selected vehicle and packages, and your full current residential address, including street, optional apartment or unit, city, state or province, ZIP or postal code, and country. We collect this address whether or not it matches your driver license. We use these details to respond to your request, confirm vehicle availability, review identity information for the proposed purchase, prepare your sales contract, and arrange delivery. Submitting a request does not reserve or purchase a vehicle or authorize a payment.

Driver-license information is collected by Stripe

Our online purchase flow uses Stripe Identity to check the authenticity of your driver license. After you submit your contact details, Rob reviews the request, price and vehicle availability. Verification is available only after approval and through a private, single-use invitation sent to your email. Merely submitting a public purchase request does not create a Stripe verification session. Once you open the invitation, you can choose to continue to a Stripe-hosted verification page. Stripe may request images of the front and back of your license. Our initial document-check configuration does not request a selfie or a separate Social Security number check.

Stripe processes identity-document images, information contained in the document, and device and fraud-prevention information, such as your IP address and browser information. Stripe provides its own notices and any applicable consent choices during verification. It may use service providers to perform verification and may process information for its own fraud prevention, security and other purposes under Stripe’s Privacy Policy. Review those notices before continuing.

We receive a verification reference and result. Authorized staff can review the verification in the Stripe dashboard when needed for the purchase. The website does not download identity-document images, ID numbers, or other extracted document fields into WordPress. Do not send your driver license through email, chat, SMS, or a general contact or appointment form. If you cannot complete Stripe verification, contact us to discuss another way to proceed; an automated verification issue does not itself determine whether you may buy the vehicle.

Security, staff access and confirmations

The purchase form uses HTTPS. Contact details submitted through our Cloudflare-hosted buyer form are encrypted in private Cloudflare records, with the encryption key stored separately as a Cloudflare secret. Access is restricted to authorized staff. WordPress retrieves information temporarily for signed-in staff review and email delivery; this purchase integration does not save a buyer-contact database or identity-document images in WordPress. Email messages and delivery logs may be retained separately by our email systems. License images and extracted identity-document fields stay with Stripe rather than in Cloudflare buyer records or the public WordPress media library. We use access controls, signed requests, limited verification invitations and hashed abuse-prevention counters for email/vehicle and IP-based session limits. These counters are scheduled for removal within two days after the end of the calendar month. We use these and other safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

We notify Rob that a request needs review using a purchase reference and a link to the private staff page. If approved, we email you a private verification invitation with Rob copied and a copy sent to our business inbox. This link expires within 24 hours or when the quoted price expires, whichever comes first. Do not forward it. After successful Stripe verification, we email your selected packages, configured vehicle price, expiration and purchase reference to the email you provided. Our sales contact Rob is copied, and a copy is sent to Tanin JDM’s business inbox. These confirmations do not include your ID image, license number, current address or primary phone number. After staff review and availability confirmation, our team prepares the contract for signing through DocuSign. Providers supporting hosting, email, identity verification and electronic signatures process information as needed to provide those services.

Retention and deletion requests

Our intake system is configured to request redaction of the Stripe verification session 30 days after you submit the purchase request and remove its encrypted intake contact details after 90 days. Redaction is a request to remove the verification information Stripe holds for us; processing may take several days and failed requests require follow-up. Limited vehicle configurations, reference numbers, verification status and business correspondence may remain as business records. Completed sales contracts, title documents and other required dealership records are handled separately and retained as needed for the transaction and applicable recordkeeping requirements. Backup copies may persist through the hosting backup-retention cycle.

To request access, correction or deletion, email contact@taninauto.com and include your purchase reference if available. We may need to verify your request without asking you to email your license. Stripe also processes some information for its own purposes, and our redaction request does not necessarily delete that separate information. You can contact Stripe at privacy@stripe.com or review its identity-data information for its retention and deletion options.

We do not use your license information for advertising or sell or rent it. A vehicle purchase request does not subscribe you to a newsletter or authorize marketing or customer-care SMS. The SMS consent and privacy provisions below continue to apply separately. This vehicle-buyer notice supplements the general policy above for this specific intake flow.

SMS CUSTOMER CARE PRIVACY

When you choose to receive Tanin JDM customer care text messages, we collect your mobile number, the information you provide in your messages, and records of your consent and opt-out preferences. We use this information to respond to your vehicle or parts inquiries, send requested listing links, communicate about appointment requests or confirmed appointments, provide order or support updates, and honor your messaging preferences.

We do not sell or rent your mobile number, SMS opt-in data, or consent. SMS consent is not shared with third parties or affiliates. Mobile numbers and SMS opt-in information are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Service providers that deliver or support our messaging may process mobile numbers and message content only as needed to provide those services on our behalf, not for their own marketing. These SMS-specific restrictions take precedence over the general sharing provisions above.

Providing a phone number, placing an order, or subscribing to our email newsletter does not by itself enroll you in SMS messages. We require your explicit consent for the applicable message purpose before sending texts. Customer care SMS consent does not authorize promotional broadcasts. We retain messaging and consent records as needed to provide support, honor opt-outs, and meet applicable recordkeeping requirements, and apply the information-protection practices described in this policy.
