This 1998 Toyota T100 DX represents the beginning of what eventually led to the creation of the Toyota Tundra in 2000. The T100 was first available in 1993 with a 4-cylinder of V6 motor, but no V8. The pickup was larger than the Tacoma, however American buyers needed and wanted a pickup that was even bigger. The T100 lacked in these areas and was killed off after the 1998 model year. The T100 was actually manufactured and partially engineered at a Hino plant. Hino still makes large trucks today and is a subsidiary of Toyota.
The 1998 Toyota T100 holds a special place in Toyota’s pickup lineage. This DX 4×4 Automatic is from the final production year — making it a rare survivor. In its original Warm White (058) finish with San Beige cloth interior, this one-owner example has defied the Midwest’s harsh winters. Most T100s fall victim to rust, corroded frames, and battered rockers — but this one was clearly treated more like a classic than a work truck.
Under the hood is the rugged 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6, known for long life with basic upkeep. This truck offers both 2WD and 4WD modes, giving you flexibility whether in highway cruising or off-road use. The ride is smooth, reliable, and surprisingly comfortable for its era.
This T100 combines rugged durability and rarity in one small package. If you’re hunting a clean, rust-resistant survivor from an era before Toyota shut down the T100 and shifted focus, this is a prime candidate.
This is a special truck. It is a one-owner and also a 1998 final model year.
This T100 spent the first 15 years of its life in Texas. The truck came to Wisconsin in 2013. Usually every T100 has rusted and rotted rockers, fenders, tail gate, frame, and underbody. This truck must have been babied and garage kept. This is one of the cleanest T100’s we have seen in a long time.
