Introduced for the 2005 and 2006 model years, the Toyota Corolla XRS represented one of the most unexpected performance sedans Toyota has ever offered in North America. Borrowed from the Celica GT-S, Matrix XRS, and Lotus Elise, the 2ZZ-GE featured Toyota’s advanced VVTL-i system, producing 170 horsepower while revving to an exhilarating 8,200 RPM. The XRS also received a sport-tuned suspension with a lower ride height, chassis bracing, revised steering, larger four-wheel disc brakes, and unique 16-inch alloy wheels, making it far more than just a cosmetic trim package.
Produced for only two model years, the first-generation Corolla XRS remains one of Toyota’s rarest modern performance cars.
