CARFAX reports that it was sold new in Durham, North Carolina on March 20, 2006, and remained with its original owner for approximately 20 years. CARFAX estimates average use at only 5,955 miles per year.

The ownership history is particularly impressive: CARFAX lists it as a personal vehicle, owned exclusively in North Carolina, with the original owner acquiring it in 2006.

Registration records continue in North Carolina through October 2025, shortly before the vehicle was offered for sale in 2026.

The CARFAX reports no accidents or damage, no structural damage, no airbag deployment, no indication of odometer rollback and no open recalls as of the report date. Its title history also shows no salvage, junk, rebuilt, fire, flood, hail or lemon brands.

Silver Moss Metallic & SE-Inspired Exterior

Silver Moss Metallic is an excellent color on the second-generation CR-V, giving this example a more distinctive appearance than the more commonly seen neutral colors.

We also refinished the front bumper in body color, creating a cleaner appearance inspired by the upscale CR-V SE and visually modernizing the front of the vehicle while retaining the recognizable second-generation CR-V design.

The rear bumper and lower cladding currently remain in their original contrasting finish. This lets the next owner see both appearances side-by-side, and we can refinish the rear bumper to match the front for the buyer if desired.

And Yes, It Has the Picnic Table

It wouldn’t be a second-generation CR-V without one of Honda’s most memorable ideas.

Lift the rear cargo floor and you’ll find the factory removable picnic table, a clever feature that has become almost inseparable from the identity of early CR-Vs.

It is one of those wonderfully strange, practical Honda details that probably wouldn’t make it through a modern product-planning meeting — and we love it.

Why the 2005–2006 CR-V Is the One to Have

For enthusiasts searching for a second-generation CR-V, the 2005–2006 models represent the most developed version of the platform — and finding one with the 5-speed manual makes the combination even more desirable.

Honda made substantial updates for 2005, including an improved Real Time AWD system. The earlier system relied on a dual-pump arrangement to engage the rear wheels when front-wheel slip occurred. For 2005, Honda added a one-way ball cam and pilot clutch mechanism that allowed the system to respond more quickly, improving traction, acceleration and hill-climbing performance on slippery surfaces.

The 2005 refresh also brought 16-inch wheels, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), traction control, ABS, side airbags and side-curtain airbags, along with revised headlights, taillights, grille and bumpers. EX models also gained steering-wheel audio controls and an outside-temperature display.

Yet Honda still allowed buyers to pair all of this with a 5-speed manual transmission.

That makes a 2005–2006 manual CR-V something of a sweet spot: the classic second-generation CR-V design and practicality, but with Honda’s later improvements to AWD, safety, equipment and styling — while still retaining three pedals.

And because 2006 was the final model year of the second-generation CR-V, this example represents the end of that formula before Honda completely redesigned the CR-V for 2007.
