We solve two problems related to the vehicle import process. You will either need one or the other, but not both services.
The first service we offer is obtaining a US title for your imported car. If you already have a vehicle in the US, only have the Japanese and import paperwork and need help with obtaining a vehicle title we can help. We can provide you with a Wisconsin title which will significantly facilitate registering and obtaining a title in your home state. It’s a much easier process to register a RHD JDM car that already has a US title vs trying to register it with a stack of Japanese paperwork.
The second service we offer is as follows:
We offer a service to be an Importer of Record (OIR) for your imported vehicle. This means our company is the legal entity responsible for ensuring your import complies with customs and regulator requirements. We work with a trusted customs broker to complete your import paperwork and clearance. Please note that final customs duty and port fees cannot be known until we declare your shipment after this process. The duty and customs fees specific to your item will be billed prior to customs release. Cars typically have a 2.5% duty while pickup trucks or anything with a cargo bed has a 25% duty. You can use these numbers to calculate against the total value of your vehicle for a rough estimate of that cost.
This service pays for:
1) The services and handling fees of a trusted customs broker to manage all paperwork of the import process
2) Brokerage entry Fees
3) ISF or importer security filing required for all sea shipments prior to leaving their origin port
4) NHTSA compliance paperwork
5) EPA compliance paperwork
This service can apply to any vehicle being imported from any country as long as it is 25 years old or older. You will still be the ultimate consignee when accepting your vehicle.
One large benefit to this is we utilize our own customs bond which is required to import a vehicle. The other big benefit is that we handle all of the paperwork, legal compliance, customs clearance, and ensure there are no snags, seizures, delays, or penalties with your import. There is no need to try and scour the internet for a reputable broker, interview them and determine their legitimacy, try and understand their line item fees and hope they can pull off the paperwork for you in a timely manner.
If you have another situation such as temporary import or other circumstances send us a message first so we can determine the best course of action.
It is your responsibility to coordinate ship, rail, or truck shipping first then we can work on the customs clearance process.
