Jason

Jason is the owner and founder of Tanin JDM. He loves all things Toyota and Mitsubishi and is determined to bring unique and rare Japanese vehicles to the United States for everyone to enjoy. He also has wholesale partnerships to provide heavily discounted original parts to customers.

He has been working on Toyota and Mitsubishi vehicles since the late 1990's. He finds 1990's Toyota diesel vehicles interesting and indestructible. His first car was a 1982 Toyota Celica 22R, tan in color with a 5-speed transmission. Unfortunately the head gasket blew on the car and without much knowledge about cars it was ultimately scrapped. The intriguing part about importing cars from Japan is the quirkiness and unicorn-like status of the cars. Jason has always loved 4-door sleeper cars and the Toyota Aristo with the 2JZ-GTE twin turbo engine with cloth seats is a perfect example. Keep in mind this is how it came from the Toyota factory. Replacement parts are still readily available from Toyota and the inherent reliability of Toyota means the imported cars won't be breaking down anyways. Jason maintains and repairs all of his vehicles to the highest standard by using original parts and following factory repair procedures. He provides a few things that set him apart from other importers. First, he offers all-inclusive pricing on your vehicle. He handles all the fees, paperwork, stress, customs and title registration. Secondly, he provides decades of experience into vehicle condition, potential hidden issues, maintenance, repair, and gives a complete overview of what to expect. He bridges the gap between enthusiast and importer.

Jason's experience and background defines the process behind how he builds cars. Jason has an engineering mindset and is a perfectionist. These two qualities allow him to essentially reverse engineer any problems or issues with vehicles. When he buys a car he will perform a visual and physical inspection. Any noises or rattles on the test drive will be noted. He inspects all areas of the car and writes down any problem areas or parts. Once he has compiled a list of issues he will use factory databases to gather all part numbers. Then he researches pricing, availability and reaches out to his global network of suppliers to order all of the parts. Many times he will document repairs and diagnostics on his youtube channel. He is a well known member on various car forums and will share his videos across these networks. Once the parts arrive he uses factory service manuals to disassemble and reassemble the components to factory specifications. He thoroughly cleans areas such as the engine bay and replaces additional parts or gaskets he finds out of spec. This attention to detail ensures no problems remain. It's Jason's goal to have engines and vehicles running in the same condition as when they left the factory.
